Do you feel the need to be responsible for everything that happens in your life? Is everything your fault? When we allow ourselves to feel responsible for everything, good and bad alike, it gives us a sense of control, but not always for healthy reasons. There are some things that we have no control over, therefore we are not responsible for them.
Author Melody Beattie wrote, “Letting go helps us to live in a more peaceful state of mind and helps restore our balance. It allows others to be responsible for themselves and for us to take our hands off situations that do not belong to us. This frees us from unnecessary stress.”
Want to relieve yourself from unnecessary stress? What or whom are you owning responsibility for in your life? The direction your life takes isn’t any more the responsibility of your parents, your education or your government – its yours. And on that same token, the direction or decisions that others make in their lives, isn’t your responsibility either!
Give yourself permission to let go of feeling responsible for everything that happens in your life.
