Today’s Core Value is: Peace. Boundaries provide peace. Someone wrote, “I allow myself to set boundaries. To say no to what does not align with my values, to say yes to what does. Boundaries assist me to remain healthy, honest and living a life that is true to me.”

Boundaries provide peace.

Ego says: Once everything falls into place, I will find peace. Spirit says, find peace and everything will fall into place.

Deepak Chopra wrote: “Finding the hidden dimensions of your life is the way to fulfill your deepest hunger.” There are many ways to find and experience peace. Meditation, prayer, yoga or walking are some of the ways that I find peace. What are yours?

Today’s Core Value is: Calmness. How do you remain calm in your day-to-day life. I found a great to do list for remaining calm. Count your blessings. Practice kindness. Let go of what you can’t control. Listen to your heart. Be productive, yet calm. Breathe.

You can find serenity and tranquility in a breath. If your day is chaotic, find a quiet room and take a moment to just sit in the stillness. And remember the to-do list I just gave you. Some days will be better than others, so let that calmness fill your heart, even for just 60 seconds a day; it will make a world of difference!

Eventually all the pieces fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moment and know everything happens for a reason.

Today’s Core Value is: Wisdom. This is my personal, number one core value. Napoleon Hill said that “every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seeds of an equal or greater benefit.” I’ve planted a lot of seeds to grow my wisdom orchard!

Someone told me that my writing was very Paulo Coelho-esque. What a fantastic compliment! He said, “Two of the hardest tests in life are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage to accept whatever you encounter.”

Wisdom is not easy to come by.

“A loving heart is the truest wisdom.” ~ that’s a quote from Charles Dickens.

Today’s Core Value is: Freedom. We have all experienced the sense of freedom that comes with milestones in our lives. Graduating from High School meant freedom from mandatory school. Getting your drivers license signified a sense of freedom on the road. What about freedom to be self-employed, or make your own decisions, or freedom from child rearing, or financial freedom. What kind of freedom do you value?

One of the happiest moments ever, is when you find the courage to let go of what you can’t change. That is the ultimate in personal freedom.

“The greatest challenge in life is discovering who you are. The second greatest challenge is being happy with what you find.”

Today’s Core Value is: Fairness. Many times we ask, is life fair? Do you value fairness and equality in work? If you follow rules and are honest and reasonable, then you are demonstrating fairness. What does fairness mean to you? I have a difficult time with the idea of fairness, because fairness or what is deserved are very different. Sometimes people deserve something, and other times they don’t. Is that fair?

There is always a lesson to be learned about fairness. Vincent Van Praagh says, “The ups and downs of our lives are soul lessons, to see if we can uncover spiritual solutions to our problems.” And Marvin J. Ashton said, “If we could look into each others hearts and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.”

I’m not very good at painting or crafts, but I wish I was. What sparks your creative nature? We all have it! Be creative about your growth! The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.

Maybe its not always about trying to fix something broken. Maybe its about starting over and creating something better. Think about that today. What kind of life do you want to create for yourself?

Now, this wasn’t exactly the kind of recognition I was looking for, so I found it to be a bit of an insult. Recognition can go either way! Are you seeking awards and rewards?

Recognize this in yourself: Before you talk, listen. It may change what you say. Before you react, think. It may change the way you respond. Before you judge, wait. It may change your viewpoint. Before you quit, try! It may be the best thing you did.

Recognize values in yourself, before you ask others for recognition!

Today’s Core Value is: Relaxation. This should be a core value for everyone! Don’t just pay lip service to self-care, make a plan to do it - today! I hear this too often, “I don’t have time to take care of myself, I’m just too busy”. This plays into the victim mentality. If you don’t make time to relax and take care of yourself, you really will not be living your best life, and this is all you get. Make relaxation one of your core values!

Find a few moments of quiet each day. Do nothing. Be still. Let your mind unwind. You’d be amazed at how just a little bit of relaxation a day, will make your life much more rewarding!
