Painter David Hayward works from his studio in the village of Chilham. He was born in Wales and grew up in the countryside, surrounded by nature. His love and his fascination for landscapes have shaped his abstract works where David explore the colour and textures. His abstract work in fact references memories of places and events. The artist primarily works with encaustic, a medium that allows for considerable surface change and encourages experimentation.

Faversham owns a medieval version of the famous Magna Carta, made in the 14th century, a celebrated document of English history. Faversham's Magna Carta is one of the best-preserved and is permanently displayed in Faversham Town Council with other royal charters included in the town's collection.
