Mbeke Waseme's parents left Jamaica alongside many other people to travel to England and help ‘rebuild the motherland’. They are part of what has now become known as the ‘Windrush generation".
But they did not come here to stay; and many children of the Windrush generation, who were born in the UK, have left to make new lands their homes.
Today, Mbeke is preparing an exhibition that will tell their stories.
She says: "I speak about life lessons, current navigations and my future plans to document life, stories, and choices. We, who are first-generation Caribbeans in the UK, will continue to make contributions to this land, as our families did."
