We closed out our Thanksgiving marathon with a 1995 masterpiece, Home for the Holidays. A look at families and holidays and all the stress that comes along with them.
We had ourselves some chardonnay to go with the movie, and if you don't know why, you will soon. We both got a little carried away with the wine and had a joyful time talking about the movie, so excuse (or enjoy) the extra time with us.
Maybe grab yourself a glass and kick back. Thanksgiving is over, now watch someone else's family have to go through the drama.

November 18, 2023 "Majored in karate for two semesters" | Son in Law
Keeping our Thanksgiving marathon moving we decided to take a look at Son in Law, a 1993 Pauly Shore holiday romp in rural America. This time we take on the college Thanksgiving experience, with a touch of California style and midwestern values.
Our drink of choice for this week was of course, the college mainstay, the screwdriver. If you know, you know. If you don't take a listen (or just check out Son in Law). This was our first time with a mixed drink to pair with a movie and we kept it true to college life, CHEAP.
Get yourself some grindage to munch, a bev-rage to wash it down and join the fun.

This week we're continuing with our November Thanksgiving celebration. We watched a holiday road trip classic, Dutch. Join us as we discuss this cross country misadventure from the early 90's that doesn't see the love it deserves.

Our drink of choice to go along with this movie was Heineken, a traditional DUTCH pale lager. Sometimes as the hosts we get the privilege of stretching the connection to our movie, but we got there.

Next week we're trying something a little different and making some screwdrivers to drink while we discuss the next movie. Any guesses what's next up for our Thanksgiving celebration...

November 04, 2023 "I'm gonna drink your blood like cranberry sauce, meanie!" | Thankskilling
October is over and that means so has our spooky movie celebration, or has it... That's right we are keeping it going, and starting off our Thanksgiving marathon too. That's right we're keeping this marathon of connected movies rolling. We're starting things off with Thankskilling which rides the line of being a b-horror movie and somewhat about Thanksgiving, so we figured it was the perfect transition. Just be prepared, this ain't your family's wholesome dinner kinda turkey.

This episode also marks our first time going a little harder with our beverage choice, but we couldn't think of anything better than some Wild Turkey to go along with this wild turkey. We may have gotten a little carried away and forgot to give our thoughts on the drink, but maybe that says all you need to say about how much we enjoyed it. WHISKEY GOOD!

Next week we'll be keeping the Thanksgiving vibe going while enjoying a Heineken, a traditional Dutch pale lager. If you think you know what we'll be discussing next week, go ahead and drop it in the comments or on our social media.

October 28, 2023 "You are the great redneck hope!" | Ernest Scared Stupid
It's our final entry in our our spooky celebration for the month of October and we have a real treat for you. We decided to end our celebration with a bit of laugh and covered Ernest Scared Stupid, a Jim Varney led family Halloween movie. Don't let the family part fool you tough, this movie definitely has a few scary surprises. We enjoyed some Milk Stout by Left Hand Brewing while reminiscing about Ernest, Jim Varney and the flood of memories this movie unlocked.

For our next episode we are finally having something other than beer, we're moving to the stronger stuff. We'll be drinking on some Wild Turkey. That's our hint for next week. Let us see those guesses.

October 21, 2023 "That plant is the vampire of the vegetable kingdom" | Nosferatu/Type O-Negative
It's the third week of our October celebration and this week we went with a real classic, Nosferatu, but with a twist. We chose to watch a 90's re-dub of the silent movie classic that overlays music by goth metal band Type O Negative. Nosferatu, an Imperial Red IPA by Great Lakes Brewing, that itself was obviously inspired by the movie as well, was our choice for pairing with this (sort of) updated version of the original vampire movie.

Next week is the last episode of our spooky movie marathon and we're going to be drinking Milk Stout by Left Hand Brewing. That's our hint for next week's episode, don't be scared, let us know what you think we're talking about next week...

Our second movie for our spooky October celebration is Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead. A Norwegian Nazi zombie horror-comedy movie that was something neither of us had seen before and now on both of our favorites list. We made a return to 3 Floyds Brewing and their Zombie Ice for another great pairing for an undead adventure...in the bitter cold.

October means it's time for spooky things. Our first pick for the month is Pumpkinhead, an 80's monster movie classic. Our drink that we had with this movie was also Pumpkinhead, Pumpkinhead Ale by Shipyard Brewing Company. It may have been the obvious choice out of several (Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod Crane) but we both love a good 80's horror movie. Try not to get too scared as we take a trip to the putrid pumpkin patch.

For this one we had a plan to do a movie (Sonic the Hedgehog 2), but decided to change it up at the last minute. Join us as we take a look at Sonic & Knuckles (we had to keep the theme for the game) and more broadly SEGA as a whole while drinking on Knuckles Strong Ale by Sawstone Brewing Company. We go a little off the rails, but keep in mind this was all completely unplanned and spontaneous. We didn't do any note taking or any of our usual research.
