Yet another episode that could easily be turned into a real horror film! Sakura and her classmates are on a school trip to the beach to take in what nature has to offer as well as participate in the quintessential Test of Courage. So basically it's kind of Sakura's personal Hell. But the cave hides something spooky - A ghost? A Clow Card (Seriously if you can't guess by now then what the heck?)? Time for Sakura to face her fears!

If you're looking for card captoring you came to the wrong place 'cuz this week's episode has no time for such things!

The Kinomoto family, with Yukito in tow, goes to a cabin in the woods for summer vacation. But wait, there's a lonely old man who lives nearby. Of course Sakura befriends him ('stranger danger' isn't a thing here). And of course he has a dead relative just like everyone else. How can Sakura cheer him up?

 

(... Seriously though, guys, if this was re-written wouldn't this make a decent horror movie??)

As we progress further into the series we start seeing more faults of Sakura's guardian/mentor, Kero. In fact, this episode is a prime example of how immature Kero can be. C'mon, dude, you're like at least 100 (maybe?) and she's 10. 

But that doesn't mean Kero doesn't step up to the plate every now and again, and frankly if he didn't help take care of a 4-year-old latchkey kid then he'd just be the worst. So there's hope for him yet!

Hello, hello, and long time no podcast. We didn't fall off the face of the Earth, though it may have seemed like it. My work schedule, along with the fact that I've been out of town on weekends, means I haven't been able to edit or record. I'm so sorry! We'll be coming back to to ASAP.

In this week's episode Touya is in a school play and a card shows up for about 2 minutes... that's mostly it.

Touya's school is having a festival which Yuki invites Sakura to. It seems her brother didn't bother to invite her. Touya also conveniently forgets to tell her that he has the starring role -- as Cinderella! But let's be real, Touya isn't anywhere near the best choice for the role. In fact, we argue that Yuki would be a way better option! I guess lucky for Touya a Clow Card makes the whole event way more exciting/deadly (well, kinda).

Sakura and her crew have earned a field trip to the local zoo. And who wouldn't love that, what with all the cute animals running around. Also who do we have to pay to get to play tug-of-war with some elephants? 

As usual, a card comes around to ruin the fun (if you can call writing a school report at the zoo "fun") and Sakura must come to the rescue of the cute animals! ---- also her friends/the people of Tomoeda. But really it's all about the animals.

Well, well, well! Time certainly has passed since our last episode! Perhaps it was due to the TIME card and not our dear hosts *cough cough*.

Sakura is worried about her upcoming recorder test, but manages to pass. But wait, the next day she has the test again? What's going on? Looks like everyone is stuck repeating the same day, much like Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day" -- except Bill Murray wasn't nearly as cute as Sakura (sorry, Bill). Even though Syaoran continues to be a smug little jerk, they have to team up if they're ever going to move past this day.

It's Sakura's first playdate at Tomoyo's house which seems odd since they've been friends for a year or so. Anyway we see further evidence that Tomoyo is friggin' loaded and that her excentric behavior must be genetic. Still, the Daidouji/Amamiya family is nothing if not loyal (at least to their cousins), and the Kinomoto family is very patient with them.

Finally! A non-murderous card!

Sakura and her classmates are enjoying their school sports day. Even with some (somewhat) friendly competition from Syaoran and her dad running late Sakura is having a great time. We’re introduced to Tomoyo’s busy mother who, it turns out, has a grudge against Fujitaka. Clearly this must be solved with a race! But the troublesome Flower card is making things difficult.

Also it seems that it’s an Amamiya/Daidouji family trait that they fall in love their cousins. *shrug*

This week we see a really cool card, but also the very unsettling relationship between Sakura's friend Rika and their teacher Terada-sensei. Even though it becomes a useful plot point in capturing the card, we're thankful that the relationship is only implied in the anime (and downright ignored in the English dub).

Also we talk enough about the similarities between this and Sailor Moon to the point where we're wondering if we shouldn't just rename the podcast to a joint name (just kidding... but also a little not).
