Jerry spoke to Eoin O’Connell who’s water treatment operations manager at Uisce Éireann. Since October 7th, the utility has put in a ‘do not consume’ notion for more than 3,500 homes, farms, schools and businesses on the Ballyheigue Public Water Supply. This means it’s not safe to drink the water even if it’s boiled. Mr O’Connell confirmed that saltwater is the cause of the contamination. Jerry also spoke to Ballyheigue-based councillor Michael Leane of Fianna Fáil, to Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly, and to Fine Gael senator Mike Kennelly.

There were seven Kerry recipients at yesterday’s Seiko Just in Time Rescue Awards and Rescue Appreciation Awards. Gardaí have carried out searches in relation to the fatal arson attack on the home of Kim and Philip English and their family in Birchwood Estate, Waterford City. The couple and two of their children, Callum who was 12, and nine-year-old Jayden died after an incendiary device
