Should we be worried about the way Dublin completely outclassed Kerry on Saturday in the National Football League? Jerry spoke to Tim Moynihan, GAA commentator for Radio Kerry.

Gardaí are investigating after a man in his 80s was found dead in Castlemaine yesterday morning, with reports that he had suffered gun-shot wounds. Fr Danny Broderick is moderator of Castlemaine parish and is also parish priest of Milltown. The man was later named locally as Patrick ‘Paddy’ O’Mahony.  This afternoon gardaí said they had arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of Mr O’Mahony’s murder. 

There is a shortage of GPs in rural Ireland. Why is there a reluctance for doctors to work in beautiful areas such as the Iveragh Peninsula? Dr Bernard Ruane is a GP based in Milltown in mid-Kerry. He says the crisis is due to several reasons including prohibitive insurance costs and bureaucracy.

The Sinaloa Cartel, a Mexican organised crime gang, has been linked to last week’s almost €33m drugs seizure at Cork Port. Two Kerry men have been arrested in connection with the seizure. Parker Asmann is an investigative journalist with InSight Crime, a think tank and media organisation that’s focused on organised crime in the Americas. Mr Asmann, who’s based in Mexico, spoke to Treasa Murphy.

Jerry spoke to Eilish Perryman whose son Patrick lives in St Mary of the Angels in Beaufort, the residential centre for people with intellectual disabilities. She’s concerned about his future because of the decision of St John of God Services which runs St Mary of the Angels and other facilities across the country to withdraw from this role. Deputy Michael Healy-Rae raised the matter in the Dáil yesterday and received a response from the Taoiseach.

Maria O’Sullivan from Kenmare is distressed about the number of deaths on our roads this year, particularly the number of young people who have lost their lives.
