Kgothatso Montjane: Finding my 'magic energy' at Wimbledon

Listen Later

Kgothatso Montjane, or KG as she likes to be known, was born with amniotic band syndrome, a condition that prevents limbs from developing properly. She has gone on to become a wheelchair tennis champion and inspire a new generation of players. In 2021 she became the first black South African woman to compete at Wimbledon, and has won four Grand Slam titles in the doubles. Between matches at this year's tournament, KG describes the joy of finding herself back at Wimbledon, and her work to ensure younger players can secure the funding and support needed to break through into world-class competitions. Monjane is launching a foundation in South Africa this summer to help other young potential wheelchair tennis players.
