Why do you pray? Is it because you believe prayer works or is prayer simply some duty that we feel obligated to participate in? Scripture indicates that we are to pray. Jesus gave us a model prayer. Join us as we take time to review what the Scripture reveals to us about praying.

Have you ever ever been the recipient of generosity? Feels kind of nice, doesn't it? It's humbling and refreshing. Have you ever been generous? How does that feel? The Scripture has much to say about giving and it urges us to be generous. What kind of a giver are you? Join us as we explore what it means to be a generous church. (REMEMBER: You are the church, so we will be talking about your generosity.)

Church. What comes to mind when you hear the word "church?" How would you define church to someone else? The Bible contains many references to "church," along with indications of who the church is and what its responsibilities are. Are you being the church?

There are so many things we can learn from the glimpses we get of Jesus in the Gospels. Each account is a treasure-trove of invaluable lessons and information meant for our benefit. This Sunday we will spend a tiny amount of time looking at one of these accounts, the death and resurrection of a man named Lazarus, from the town of Bethany. What lessons does God want you to get from this account? What do you need to work on? Have you ever heard the words "the deader, the better" in a sermon before? I doubt there is any argument with this statement: All of us have needs from time to time. The question is: Who do you turn to when you have a need? Do you turn to yourself? To others? Do you look to someone who has the ability to provide whatever it is you need? In times of need, we want help. We want provision. Throughout Abraham's life, he experienced the provision of God in many ways. As we examine his life story, we can learn this lesson: God provides.

God has given us the characters in the Scripture to teach us about WHO He is and what He wants from us. One of the most prominent biblical characters is a man named Abram (Abraham). For the next two weeks, we want to take a quick overview of his life and discover any lessons God may want to teach us from the life of this giant of faith. I would encourage you to take the time to read Genesis 12-16 in preparation for Sunday's message.

Did you ever wonder what happened to the Tabernacle? Where is Solomon's Temple or Herod's Temple? What if Jesus didn't go into the Temple to cleanse it but to curse it? Would the Messiah enter God's house and write its obituary? Bring your Bibles this Sunday as we journey through the repeated failures of God's people and understand why the Temple is no longer there. Does it have anything to do with us?

King Solomon was known as the wisest man in the ancient world. He wrote thousands of proverbs and poems and collected and recorded knowledge about plants and animals. The book of Proverbs makes that wisdom available to us today. In this Sunday's passage we will consider four instructions from Solomon that we would be wise to put into practice as we walk the path of the righteous.

We are somewhat familiar with the basic Biblical account of Babel. But have we taken the time to see what foundational truths are there? Does God overlook pride and sin? Does He punish or correct in the way or timing that we expect? The Babel story gives us insight into this. We know God has something to teach us from this historical account. And He has something for us to do.

In today's world there is so much going on around us. In the Bible there was also a great deal of conflict, even within families. The brothers Jacob and Esau are prime examples of conflict in the book of Genesis. The conflict was so great that Jacob fled Esau, but they did meet again. Jacob was worried, and for good reason feared the worst. On the other hand, Esau had different intentions for the meeting between the two brothers. Join us on Sunday as we study Esau's intentions for Jacob and how the Lord changed his heart.
