As we conclude our Advent series, we will take a look at the "same old story" found in Luke 2. Luke gives us the most complete account of Jesus' birth. One of many high lights we find is the rejoicing and praising which is done by the shepherds. Could it be we might learn from them? How should we respond to the "Good News" that a Savior has been born? Luke 2 reminds us of our duty.

Continuing in our "The Same Old Story" series, we will explore Joseph's perspective and actions as the man who was engaged to Mary. How will e respond or react to the news that Mary is pregnant...and he's not the dad? Will he listen? To Mary? To the angel? Will Joseph walk in obedience to God? Scripture reveals the answer.

Surrender. Not necessarily a popular term. It carries with it the idea of giving up one's rights in favor of another. No one wants to do that...at least not very often. In Mary's story we see a young lady who was surrendered to God. She yielded herself to God for an unknown future. His plan may have greatly affected her plans. But she was willing to surrender, in faith. Her example is a great pattern for us to follow.

Have you ever questioned whether or not God keeps His promises? Not long after Creation, a promise began to unfold, which took a few thousand years to come to reality. There was the promise of a Messiah. This Sunday, we will trace the promise through the Scriptures and discover once again, God keeps His promises!

Thanksgiving is a great reminder for us to give thanks to God for everything we are blessed with. How often should we "give thanks" though? For what types of blessings? Are you good at remembering to live your life "thankfully?" Let's look at the example Paul gives us on being thankful.

As we understand what the Church is, we come to recognize that there are things the Church does. For the next two weeks, we will take some time to look at the actions of the Church. And it's important to remember that as we are actively doing what God says the Church is to be doing, there is joy.

How would you define "church?" Is it a place? A people? Something you do or a place you go? Or is it more than that? The Scriptures give us details about the Church which are necessary to be reminded of. Who does the Church belong to? And, what is the Church, after all? Answers coming Sunday.
