The latest CBS News polling in Arizona shows former President Donald Trump with a slim lead within the margin of error. However, in the closely watched Senate race, Trump ally Kari Lake is trailing.

First on CBS Mornings, American Paul Wheelan, who was held in Russia for more than five years, has a lot to say in his first interview since being released. The Marine veteran, convicted on espionage charges, was freed two months ago in a historic prisoner swap. He told "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan that his prison time was physically and mentally hard.

Opening statements are set for today in the trial of Richard Allen, who is charged with the 2017 murders of 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German. Allen has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In April 2018, in the Florida Gulf Coast town of Eastpoint, Aileen Seiden's beaten body was found dumped near a highway. The next day, a bloody motel room was discovered nearby. The back-to-back scenes prompted investigators to see if the two were connected.
