Every American has the liberty to simply choose.
Politicians and the government, all have their place.
I am only free, when I can choose to just be myself.
The USA is so great; because of freedom and liberty.
They take their low blows, looking for knockout punch.
We are the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

What if we all wore a mask everyday, like it was on Halloween?
The truth is that we all know they aren’t who they appear to be.
This is because what appears, and is there in reality, aren’t the same.
What we believe to be true, is often fear just disguised as the truth.
If a human being is different, that doesn’t mean they do not belong.
People and things that are different, can leave you feeling distress.
It can be unnerving and irritating to feel defensive, distress, or fear.
The defensive oyster secretes more fluid to coat the irritant, over time.
Many times, the thing with a tough exterior shell has beauty on the inside.

Check out my latest poetry podcast on Emotionally Smart Living on the topic of bias
There is something called bias, that keeps us from getting in any harm.
But a part of the brain called the amygdala lets us know we’re in trouble.
Our brain is designed to do things automatically, to alleviate your stress.
It then applies bias, based on prior experiences, in order to keep you secure.
You will think carefully about how it is that you behave and that you interact.
When your heart and head don’t agree, you should always proceed with care.
