Sometimes God shows up in a powerful way that nobody saw coming. That’s what happened on the day of Pentecost. As a result, the church was launched into the world to share the inclusive love of Jesus, and the world was forever changed. In today’s sermon, we’ll explore the church’s origin story, why it matters, and what it means for our lives today.

In today’s sermon, we’ll consider the urgent, vitally-important work God has called Kindred to do in our community. To help us, we’ll explore the intriguing story of Jesus’ ascension into heaven, what it meant for the first disciples, and what it means for us right now.

At Kindred, we fully include women in the life and leadership of our church. And while some of us may feel that that stance needs no explanation, others of us come from church backgrounds where the role of women was restricted. In fact, some of us have been personally harmed by a previous church’s restrictions on women. So in today’s sermon, we’ll look to the example of Jesus and his earliest followers, exploring several countercultural ways that Jesus empowered women in his ministry. And we’ll consider how we’re called to continue the work he started.

Sadly, the church in America has earned a reputation for being a pretty exclusive community. That’s because many churches have chosen to focus on judging and condemning people rather than embracing them. So it’s important to recognize that exclusive churches do not reflect what God is like! In today’s sermon, we’ll explore a powerful, biblical example of God’s radical commitment to inclusion and we’ll discover what it means for us.

In today’s sermon, as we conclude our series on the relationship between Scripture and science, we’ll explore the topic of miracles. From the parting of the Red Sea to the resurrection of Jesus, the Bible is filled with lots of different miracle stories. But can we take those stories seriously while also taking science seriously? So in today’s sermon, we’ll explore the story of some biblical figures who were feeling the same way. And with them, we’ll discover a powerful source of hope that stands up to any disappointment we will ever face. Join us as we celebrate the good news of Easter!

In today’s sermon we’ll consider a few practical things we can do to handle conflict the Jesus way, and we’ll discover the powerful difference it makes in our lives and our world when we do.
