Join Pastor Aldo in this thought-provoking episode as he dives into the controversial topic of Christian Nationalism. There is increased awareness, discussion and controversy about this trending topic due to post-millennial authors publishing historic stances about the role of the civil magistrate in God's kingdom and books such as Stephen Wolfe's "The Case for Christian Nationalism". In this episode, Pastor Aldo provides his perspective on the topic, interacting with a video published by the G3 ( https://youtu.be/iIPKSTONfg8 ), which presents an opposing Baptist view on Christian Nationalism. Below is a sampling of some of the content.
The G3 argues that there is no biblical support for Christian Nationalism which they define as the rebuilding of Christendom or establishing Christianity as the official religion of a nation. However, Pastor Aldo challenges this view, citing various biblical references from both the Old and New Testaments that support the idea of Christian Nationalism from a post-millennial perspective. Pastor Aldo illuminates Isa 19:18; Rev 1; Ps 2; Rev 21:22; Isa 60:10; Ps 72:8; Isa 42; The Lord's Prayer; and many more citations in this episode.
The G3 also asserts that there should be a separation between the civil and spiritual realms with the government ruling the external actions of the soul, and the church guiding the spiritual state of men. However, Pastor Aldo argues that this separation is unattainable and a mere fantasy. He also discusses how the whole moral law applies for the restraint of evil, and that the civil magistrate has a servant role as deacon in restraining evil in this age.
While Pastor Aldo disagrees with the G3 on several points, he agrees that the Wolfe nationalists and the theonomist nationalists offer a dangerous kind of nationalism that can lead to fascism.
Pastor Aldo states that the position against Christian Nationalism is weak, it's not biblically nor confessionally tenable, it is a novelty that he believes has no place in the legitimate conversation about what is comprehensive Christianity.
