Join Pastor Aldo in this thought-provoking episode as he dives into the controversial topic of Christian Nationalism. There is increased awareness, discussion and controversy about this trending topic due to post-millennial authors publishing historic stances about the role of the civil magistrate in God's kingdom and books such as Stephen Wolfe's "The Case for Christian Nationalism". In this episode, Pastor Aldo provides his perspective on the topic, interacting with a video published by the G3 ( https://youtu.be/iIPKSTONfg8 ), which presents an opposing Baptist view on Christian Nationalism. Below is a sampling of some of the content.
The G3 argues that there is no biblical support for Christian Nationalism which they define as the rebuilding of Christendom or establishing Christianity as the official religion of a nation. However, Pastor Aldo challenges this view, citing various biblical references from both the Old and New Testaments that support the idea of Christian Nationalism from a post-millennial perspective. Pastor Aldo illuminates Isa 19:18; Rev 1; Ps 2; Rev 21:22; Isa 60:10; Ps 72:8; Isa 42; The Lord's Prayer; and many more citations in this episode.
The G3 also asserts that there should be a separation between the civil and spiritual realms with the government ruling the external actions of the soul, and the church guiding the spiritual state of men. However, Pastor Aldo argues that this separation is unattainable and a mere fantasy. He also discusses how the whole moral law applies for the restraint of evil, and that the civil magistrate has a servant role as deacon in restraining evil in this age.
While Pastor Aldo disagrees with the G3 on several points, he agrees that the Wolfe nationalists and the theonomist nationalists offer a dangerous kind of nationalism that can lead to fascism.
Pastor Aldo states that the position against Christian Nationalism is weak, it's not biblically nor confessionally tenable, it is a novelty that he believes has no place in the legitimate conversation about what is comprehensive Christianity.

We then move on to examine the various proof texts often used in the Reformed Standards, such as Galatians 3, Exodus 20, Deuteronomy 7, 1 Peter 2, Ephesians 5, and more which are often cited in the Republication controversy. We also discuss the issues with the Republication Paradigm, including a low view of the law of God and the Gospel, a deistic pietism, gnosticism, hacking up the Bible, and individualism. We touch on the topic of Antinomianism and how the Republication Paradigm affects the posture towards laws and responsibility for actions. Overall, this episode explores the nuances and the need for removing Republication from Reformed Theology and how it affects the theological landscape.

In this episode of the podcast, host Aldo Leon is joined by guest Pastor Drew Poplin from the First Reformed Presbyterian Church of Durham (RPCNA - https://www.firstrpcdurham.org/) to discuss the topic of exclusive psalm singing and its impact on our doctrine and life. They begin by exploring the story of how Pastor Poplin came to his position on psalmody and defining the position itself. The discussion then moves on to the arguments for psalmody, with the guest pastor outlining the confessional basis and the superiority, sufficiency, and scriptural forms of argument. The duo then delves into the history of psalmody in the church, from the early church to the reformation. They also explore the arrival of hymnody in the church and the regulative principle of the reformation, as well as the impact of revivalism and the Old/New Side. The episode concludes with an examination of the objections to exclusive psalm-singing and how to address them. Pastor Poplin also outlines what the church and hymns are missing in terms of obedience to God's command, biblical simplicity of worship, biblical literacy, masculinity, suffering, victory/eschatology, the law, piety, Godward focus, and love for public worship.

In this thought-provoking episode, Pastor Aldo delves into the teachings of the Westminster Catechism, specifically focusing on Question 51, which addresses the use of images in worship. Drawing from the rich heritage of Reformed theology, Pastor Aldo discusses why there should be no exceptions to the prohibition of using images of God, as outlined in the Second Commandment. He explores various areas where pastors have allowed the use of images, such as for pedagogical purposes in children's ministry, and he highlights the consequences of disregarding this commandment. With insights from the Westminster Catechism and a keen understanding of the slippery slope that can arise from ignoring this vital instruction, Pastor Aldo sheds light on the need for faithful adherence to biblical principles in practice.

The Evangel Presbytery (PCA) is proposing Overature 12 to be reviewed by the PCA General Assembly, it is entitled, "Petition Government to End Sex-change Procedures for Minors" and may be found in its entirety at:https://pcaga.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Overture-12-Evangel-Petition-re-Sex-change-procedures.pdf. Recently, R Scott Clark, host of the Heidelblog, posted an article, "Cases Extraordinary, The Spirituality Of The Church, And The Trans Crisis", 30-Mar-23, which may be found here: https://heidelblog.net/2023/03/cases-extraordinary-the-spirituality-of-the-church-and-the-trans-crisis/ in which the author questions whether the grounds of the overature (which he agrees with), meet the criteria of "cases extraordinary" that the Divines had in mind for transmitting a petition to a commonwealth or civil authority. In this episode of Kingdom Polemics, pastor Aldo Leon provides his views on the R Scott Clark article and the Overature.
