Michigan and Washington will meet in the National Championship in Houston on Jan. 8. How did the Wolverines and Huskies build teams to get there?
On this Kings of the North, Doug Lesmerises and Bill Landis dig into the roster building of Michigan and Washington and investigate how sustainable it is and how possible it is for other Northern programs.
They do that by focusing on 4 areas:
- High school recruiting ratings
- Experience
- Recruiting geography
- Using the transfer portal
1:04:30 - Then the guys draft the 10 most important people for the national title game, picking from Washington and Michigan players and coaches.
Thanks for joining the Kings of the North, and come back Friday for a full matchup breakdown and title game picks from Doug and Bill.

Washington beat Texas in a College Football Playoff semifinal in the Sugar Bowl, but the Huskies almost lost their lead and had to hold on in the final seconds ... as Doug Lesmerises and Bill Landis talked and followed along for a game they thought was over.
Washington's aggression won out in the end, as quarterback Michael Penix Jr. put up over 400 passing yards in a brilliant performance. Both Bill and Doug predicted that would happen, and they talked about how the Huskies stayed undefeated, setting up a Northern showdown.

For a discussion of the Wolverines, check out the Rose Bowl postgame show.

Michigan beat Alabama in overtime in the Rose Bowl, and Doug Lesmerises and Bill Landis are here with instant reaction minutes after the huge win for the Wolverines.
Michigan showed there was nothing Alabama did that it couldn't match, and the Wolverines will now take their shot at a national title. A great defensive effort and clutch late drives from the offense pushed Jim Harbaugh and his team to its first playoff win.
Tell the world that Northern football can handle anything Southern football brings, and Doug and Bill get that point across on this postgame show after this College Football Playoff semifinal.
