Churches love distinctives—things that make them distinct (and look like they are better than) other churches. Distinctives are fine. The trouble comes in when the distinctive becomes the major to the surrender of the other majors—when we lose the camels in the gnats. We get into Bible translations from the Septuagint to the Vulgate to the King James Version, and all the others.
