A federal appeals court has delivered a legal victory to President Donald Trump's administration, allowing it to move forward with executive orders banning diversity, equity and inclusion programs across federal agencies and among government contractors. Trump hits second term low
President Donald Trump said he has learned that his administration might need to take "a little bit of a softer touch" in its immigration crackdown in Minneapolis, following the fatal shootings of U.S. citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents last month. Trump's comments come amid mounting backlash, including from some Republican lawmakers, over the Department of Homeland Security's response to the shootings and its broader handling of operations in Minneapolis. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, both Democrats, called the withdrawal a positive first step but urged the Trump administration to end the remaining federal presence as soon as possible. After Pretti's shooting, Trump removed Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino from overseeing the Minneapolis operation and placed Homan in charge, calling him "tough but fair" and saying he would report directly to the president.

While isolated cases of voter fraud have led to convictions, Trump's broader claims about the 2020 and 2024 elections have largely been disproven.
Prosecutors said Routh spent weeks plotting to kill Trump before positioning himself in shrubbery along a fairway at Trump's West Palm Beach country club on September 15, 2024, as the Republican presidential candidate played golf.
