Jason sat down with Joseph Rojas of the rock band Seventh Day Slumber. They discussed how he fell into addiction due to the various traumas that he endured in his youth and the consequences of his addiction and how he turned them into his greatest advantage being of service to others and building a stable family life.
Joseph Rojas grew up in the housing projects of Victoria, Texas, where gunfire and sirens echoed through the neighborhood. But, for Joseph, the rough streets became a refuge from the nightmare of his home life. He remembers being about three and a half years old and being ten feet away from my father as he beat my mother bloody, and that was the memory he grew up with, of a father. When Joseph was still a small child, his father left the family.
Joseph’s mother worked long hours to provide for her two boys. Many times they were left to a babysitter that his mom was unaware was abusing her son. Joseph was hurting, empty, alone, and seeking acceptance. That's when he found the wrong crowd along with drugs and alcohol. At the age of 14, he did his first line of cocaine. Before he knew it, a line became two lines, two lines became three lines, and then by the end of it all, at the age of 21, he had a $400 a-day cocaine addiction.
Learn how Joseph was able to turn his life around, through faith and support from his mom. How his musical journey saved his life, bringing purpose. Along with his faith, meeting his wife with who he has 3 sons, and how he started the rock band Seventh Day Slumber.

Jason and Mikey sat down with the Ryan Phillips on the Knockin' Doorz Down podcast. They discussed how Ryan's journey from a hockey stand out with dreams of becoming the next Wayne Gretzky becomes the King of the Pot trade from Canada to the USA. Now a humanitarian and advocate for mental health, well-being, and addiction recovery.
Ryan grew up with a great childhood and a close-knit family. All he focused on was becoming a successful hockey star which his parents fully supported. Ryan left home at the age of 16 to play professional hockey. This is when things began to change. During this time is when the party lifestyle entered his life.
At height of Ryan Phillips's fame and game prowess when he was arrested for importing a large amount of marijuana into the United States over the Canadian border. Phillips was incarcerated and detained and then, later, upon his release, prohibited from re-entering for life by Homeland Security.
In 2012 Ryan was granted access as a humanitarian back to the USA. He started to really focus on doing good in the world and his efforts were reciprocated, to say the least. He found happiness finally after twelve long years. It just so happened that he filmed a documentary called Return to Happiness that documents the adversities in life that he overcame with positive energy, and it was the love of his daughter that was a major inspiration for the film. Ryan does struggle with the effects due to concussions, but he doesn't let that stop him from being a positive light in the world.

Jason and Mikey sat down with the Better Life Guy, Matt Pink on the Knockin' Doorz Down podcast. They discussed why Matt wrote the best-selling book "Better Me, Better You" which not only tells his story of addiction recovery but all works as an interactive guidebook for a better life.
Matt grew up with a great childhood and a close-knit family. However, he would drink and party with friends, but his friends continued to grow into adulthood and start their families. Matt would continue his ways of drinking and drugs. After the death of his son in 2013, his addiction began to consume his life. That's when he really hit the bottle hard, sniffing "Gear" along with anything else he could get his hands on.
After years of drinking, doing random drugs, and couch surfing all around London, Matt Pink had a spiritual awakening that would change his life forever which he shares. He knew what he was doing was wrong, however, one random man that appeared and went off in the night that he met outside the pub, woke Matt up and guided him in the right direction. Had it not been for Matt's friend being with him, he was sure nobody would believe him.
Matt has now been sober for over 3 years, is an accomplished author, meditates, works out daily, and is constantly making progress to achieve his goals. Married, with a family and as he revealed on the podcast he has a baby girl on the way.
