When the woman at the well encountered Jesus she had to share Him. Jesus was attractive to these "outcasts" and wanted to hear what He had to say. They quickly become believers. This should make us pause, if we are sharing Jesus correctly, shouldn't people be interested, hungry and thirsty? Did we meet Jesus in kindness, grace, and love or harsh demands?
For human flourishing we need to attend to our mind, body, spirit and heart. In this example Jesus talks about feeding our Spirit by being attuned and connected to the Father. When we live out the good works God has called us into, we can feel full. We talk about the balance between serving and saying yes, but also when we need to take a break. Balance is missing in the dialogue of our world, and we need to find the healthy balance and rhythms of life.

Today we see not only the love of Jesus displayed for "the other," "the outcast" and "the worst sinner." We see His love, kindness, and dignity. We also explore the concept of living water and what this means for our daily loves. Have we received and living in the gift of God, talked about in this passage? A question we tackle, and is important for our day and age, is: Are Churches about power and recognition or about being servants of Christ and His Church?

A powerful conversation between a fearful leader and an unexpected king. Although Nicodemus seemingly is afraid to talk to Jesus and associate with Him, Jesus engages this curious man with a long, meaningful conversation. Also in this episode, we talk about vulnerability and how we can find our identity in good things and doing good but this still robs us of our true and more glorious identity.

Jesus turns water into wine and listens to human appeals. Jesus cares about those who are left out of His Father's house and wants all people to have access to the Father. Who are we forgetting that God has called to the table and the house of God? We were excluded (as Gentiles) but He brought us into the family.

When the disciples meet Jesus they can't help but tell their friends. They encountered something unique and amazing about Jesus. They were excited and intrigued by Jesus. What could be so meaningful to leave everything and follow this strange man? We also talk about how the disciples attempted to make Jesus a political figure and although they were very incorrect, He is patient with them and still chooses them.
(John 1:35-50)

Today in John 1:13-34 we Jesus and John model leadership for an upside-down, countercultural kingdom. God enters the story, taking on human form to walk alongside us. Why does He do this? Because of love and for our flourishing and restoration.

What does it mean that Jesus was there "in the beginning" — and why didn't the world recognize Him when He arrived?
In this episode, we walk through John 1:1-13 together, slowing down on the verses that are easy to read past. We look at why John opens his gospel so differently from Matthew, Mark, and Luke; what it tells us that Jesus is called "the Word" and "the light"; and why Jesus responded with patience to seekers but firmness with religious gatekeepers who claimed to speak for God.
We also sit with one of the most quietly staggering truths in Scripture: that those who receive Jesus are given the right to become children of God. Not employees. Not distant admirers. Children. We talk about why that identity is easy to nod at and hard to actually believe in your bones, and what it looks like to let that truth reshape how you move through your day.
Brian Bachman is a licensed professional counselor, and brings both clinical insight and personal honesty to the conversation — including his own struggle with pride, frustration, and the slow work of letting God's truth move from head to heart.
Whether you've followed Jesus for decades or you're just curious and exploring, you're welcome here.
