    Governor Brian Sandoval, who was condemned by GOP state convention delegates for pushing a $1.4 billion tax increase to improve education, is defending himself, saying it was something that had to be done. But Governor Sandoval says, raising taxes is not something he wanted to do. More than 1,000 GOP delegates who attended the party convention over the weekend in Reno passed a resolution criticizing Sandoval and Republican legislators who supported the tax. The governor did not attend. Sandoval says (quote) “I respect the party, and I will continue to serve the state to the best of my ability.” But the Governor says the criticism will not change what he presents to the 2017 Legislature.
