Nevada's prison population could be reduced, by re-evaluting sentences for low-level offenders. That's the advice from the JFA Institute, which works with government agencies on criminal justice practices. The JFA director told prison officials here that Nevada inmates are mostly convicted of Class B felonies,... those crimes include staging dog fights or altering the ID numbers on car parts.... and more serious crimes like giving drugs to a child or breaking and entering. Those crimes have maximums of up to 20 years. The institute suggests lowering the sentence for less serious crimes.
