    The Reno City Council has unanimously approved changing the master plan for the University of Nevada Regional Center to include a Gateway District. As approved, the university will be allowed to build south and expand. UNR is working with Reno's Historical Resources Commission to determine what to do with some of the older homes in the area. Some of the homes were built in the 1800s and one is even on the National Historical Register.

    Washoe County School Trustees have been making some tough decisions about overcrowding. They've set in motion "Conversion Thresholds" that will trigger when schools switch to multi track or double sessions. The newest member of the board, Dr. Diane Nicolet, says the good news is they're on top of this issue, and know what needs to be done. She says the infrastructure problem is real, and while they're staying focused on the classroom and education, this problem won't go away by itself.
