    Police in the Las Vegas area are investigating three separate homicides that occurred in less than 24 hours. They say officers found the body of 54-year-old Kevin Michael Hockar Saturday night outside his home. Investigators say he was shot and killed by an Hispanic man who left the area in a maroon sedan. North Las Vegas police found a 24-year-old man with a fatal gunshot wound at a home early this morning. No suspects have been identified in that shooting. A few hours later, Las Vegas police responded to an apartment complex. Investigators say a fight led to a man being fatally shot. This all follows a teenage boy's shooting death at a recreation center Saturday morning.

    State gaming regulators have given final approval to Marnell Gaming LLC's purchase of the Nugget Casino Resort. The price has not been disclosed for the Sparks casino, but the approval matches the Gaming Control Board's decision two weeks ago and is expected the be final in May. The sale comes on the heels of a $1 million civil penalty against the Nugget's former owners for violating anti-money laundering requirements.

    The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office says a woman who didn’t show up for her felony child abuse court date in Winnemucca may be in Reno or still in Winnemucca. 22-year-old Candace Anderson pleaded guilty in 2015 to the felony child abuse charge and bailed out. Anderson is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds and is about seven months pregnant, the sheriff's office said. The case involves Anderson making what police have called a fake report involving a dog attacking her baby. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office say the injuries were not consistent with a dog attack and Anderson may have caused the injuries herself.

  • 4/24/16 8 PM - Top of the Hour Newscast
    The Nevada Department of Corrections says a 49-year-old inmate died Friday morning shortly before 7:00. Department officials say Julian Falcon died at the Regional Medical Facility in the Northern Nevada Correction Center in Carson City. Falcon was committed from Mineral County in May of 1993. He was serving 150 years on a variety of counts including sexual assault, kidnapping, administering a drug in commission of a felony, battery by a prisoner and use of a deadly weapon enhancement. The Carson City Sheriff's Office Coroner responded and an autopsy has been scheduled.

  • 4/24/16 7 PM - Top of the Hour Newscast
    Two people were killed and a man has been arrested following a two-car crash last night on Pyramid Way in Sparks. The initial investigation indicates a car was either slowed or stopped on Pyramid when another car struck it from behind a little after 10:00 last night. The Nevada Highway Patrol says Mario Cortez has been identified as the suspect arrested in the deadly hit-and-run crash. Cortez, 35, was booked at Washoe County Jail. He faces felony charges of DUI resulting in death and hit-and-run, among other misdemeanors. The identities of the two people killed have not yet been released.
