Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval has endorsed Ohio Gov. John Kasich for president and joined his campaign as national co-chairman.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a balcony fire on an apartment complex south of Virginia Lake yesterday (Saturday). The department got the call to the 2900 block of Lakeside Drive at 11:13 a.m. and arrived in less than four minutes, according to Reno Fire Department Battalion Chief John McNamar. The first engine on scene used a ladder to reach the third-floor balcony and put out the fire. The damage was limited to the exterior of the building and no one was displaced.

Two inmates are suspected of killing a third inmate at a Clark County prison. Ralph E. Goodman, 39, died in an attack at High Desert State Prison about 30 miles north of Las Vegas. Goodman was being escorted by a prison guard to his cell when Jeremy Nuckles, 39, and Justin Mitthias Muncy, 32, charged across the yard towards Goodman and despite being pepper sprayed they attacked him, knocked him to the ground and stabbed him, the department said. The Clark County Coroner's Office will do an autopsy and the Inspector General's Office will review the incident.
