    Eight years, dozens of lawyers and hundreds of thousands of documents later, more than 200 northern Nevada flood victims are finally going to be paid for damages suffered when a century-old irrigation canal burst and sent a wall of water into their homes in 2008. The $18.1 million settlement includes about $7.8 million in attorney fees and expenses.

    Reno police are investigating an incident that took place around 5:30 pm Saturday evening in the area of Delucchi Ln. and Neil Rd. Officers were called to the area on reports of an injured person in the roadway. When police arrived they found a subject with a head wound who was transported to Renown. During the investigation officers learned the subject jumped from the passenger seat of a car and likely struck his head on the ground. If you have any information on the case your asked to contact the Reno Police Department's Traffic Division or Secret witness.

    It was a terrifying scene caught on cell phone cameras Saturday in Sparks as a man drove the wrong way up an offramp onto Interstate 80, around 4pm. Civilian drivers are credited with boxing the man in until authorities arrived and took him into custody. Police say the driver may have had a medical incident and most likely will not be charged with a crime.

    The Clark County Republican Party ended a chaotic convention with its chairman stepping down. Chairman Ed Williams announced his resignation in an email Saturday just as the convention at the Rio was ending. Williams cited a shift in the party's composition as a factor. He did not mention an ethics complaint filed by a former rival. The complaint accuses Williams of receiving a rewards program account as part of a contract to hold the convention at the Rio.

    A Washoe County man has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, for his role in a June 2015 sexual assault case involving a 22 year old woman. 21 year old Brandon Guevara will serve a minimum of 18 years in prison before being eligible for parole. He was convicted of one count of Kidnapping in the 1st Degree, one count of Battery with Intent to Commit Sexual Assault, and one count of Sexual Assault.

    The City of Reno will host a Virginia Street Bridge Project Ribbon Cutting event on Tuesday at the Corner of First and Virginia Streets. The event will feature a procession of transportation history across the Virginia Street Bridge including a World Champion Mule Team, several historic vehicles from the National Automobile Museum, and a state-of-the-art Tesla car. Also featured will be a performance from the Reno Wind Symphony.

    Officers with the Sparks Police Department have been investigating a shooting that took place on March 25, on the 1600 block of A street. During this investigation a stolen short barreled shotgun was recovered and a suspect was identified as Shawn Alexander Brown. Saturday afternoon police went to a residence on the 1600 block of A street where Brown was believed to be located. Brown barricaded himself inside while a SWAT team set up outside. After 3 hours of negotiations he surrendered to authorities and is being charged with multiple felonies.
