Officials with the Lyon County Sheriff's Office say they've found three family members dead at two separate locations in Silver Springs. Deputies responded to a medical call in the 28-hundred block of Tonopah Avenue at about 8:17 last night where they found a dead 46-year-old woman. Deputies then went to the home of relatives of the dead woman in the three-thousand block of East Third Street to notify them of the death. There they found two more deceased people. An investigation is underway to determine if the deaths are connected. The names of the dead individuals have not yet been released.

Students and local manufacturers will reap the benefits, as the new Industrial Technology Lab opened at Western Nevada College. The expansion and remodeling of the Industrial Technology Lab in the Reynolds Center will allow WNC to serve a greater number of students by offering more classes to address increasing local workforce demands. The six-month construction project was funded by the NV Energy Foundation, E.L. Cord Foundation and the Reynolds Foundation through grant requests written by the WNC Foundation. Retired Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi says he's throwing his hat in the race for Carson City Supervisor Ward 1. Supervisor Karen Abowd announced she isn't seeking a third term. Giomi originally worked for Carson City Fire Department in 1983 as a dispatcher. He then became a firefighter, and was named Fire Chief in 2005. He's been retired since 2015, and since then worked as the Director of Facilities and Emergency Preparedness at Nevada Health Center, Inc.
