he Reno City Council is being asked to consider a host of new anti-vagrancy ordinances designed to discourage less than desirable behaviors.

Officials with the Washoe County Health District are saying that more than 60 mosquito tests have returned positive for West Nile Virus in Washoe County, and one person has died from the virus. The virus has also infected five others, several birds and one horse in the district. Health officials will increase insecticide fogging throughout the county in the areas and neighborhoods where the virus has been detected. And, the Health District will be conducting a fourth round of helicopter larvicide applications in late September. The district is recommending that you wear proper clothing and repellent when outside during dawn and dusk hours, remove all standing water from your property, and check your doors and windows to ensure they have tight-fitting screens to keep mosquitos out. You should also vaccinate your horses for the virus.
