The Nevada Highway Patrol says a crash near US 50 and Fairview Drive killed a motorcyclist yesterday morning. NHP says the crash happened on southbound 580 shortly after 9AM and closed the freeway for a while.

Seven more mosquito collections have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Washoe County.

The Reno Fire Department, Police Department and REMSA are out on a fire at 319 Thoma St, a residential address between Wells and Holcomb.

The Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center is reporting a new wildland fire in the Eastlake Blvd area near New Washoe City. BLM, Forest Service, Truckee Meadows, and NDF air and ground units are responding.

It's going to be hot this weekend, and if you think your might take a dip in the Truckee, N-Dot's Stormwater Program and the Reno Fire Department have a message for you. They've teamed up for a new Public Service Announcement saying trash, glass and other hazardous materials dumped into the Truckee River not only pollute, but are also safety hazards. Deflated flotation devices, litter and debris can entangle a swimmer, and glass and other hazardous materials can cause injuries. Reno Fire Chief Dave Cochran and his team are part of that new video.
