The state Assembly is considering a bill to regulate ownership of exotic animals. Assembly Bill 238 would prohibit people from owning, importing, selling or breeding a dangerous wild animal in Nevada. The regulations would not only affect big game animals like Lions and Tigers, it would also regulare snakes, primates and other animals that could be potentially dangerous.

Carson City's Ormsby House is up for sale. The long closed casino property has been undergoing a slow renovation for about 17 years, and the current owners have decided to sell it and let another developer come in. The Ormsby House has 110 rooms, it was built in the 1970's.

A Nevada Democrat is seeking to start recreational marijuana sales at least a few weeks earlier than currently planned. Sen. Tick Segerblom wants to green-light pot sales by mid-June. State regulators are already planning a July 1 launch, which is six months ahead of deadline. Segerblom told his colleagues at a Friday hearing that his bill could act as a backup to the state tax department's strategy - in case something extends the current timeline. Senate Bill 302 would do much of what the department is currently vetting. It would implement sales taxes, some new rules and the general provisions of the legalization initiative voters approved in November.
