Sabra Newby is reportedly being offered a salary of $200,000 to become Reno's next city manager, that's about 16 hundred dollars less than Andrew Clinger was paid. She's also been offered a $500 per month car allowance. The deal, according to the RGJ allows Newby to commute from Las Vegas until December 1st, and pays her up to ten thousand dollars to offset the cost, including temporary housing. She plans to move when her childrens' school year wraps up in June. The contract will be discussed for possible approval at Wednesday's council meeting.

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has gotten a guilty verdict in a possession of stolen property trial that began last Monday. The defendant in the case, 35 year old Chris Kelly was charged with possessing jewelry and clothing stolen from a guest of a downtown casino. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison and sentencing is set for May 3rd. Kelly was seen stuffing newspaper into door locks at a local casino, in an apparent attempt to disable them. When questioned, Kelly led officers to a room and luggage he claimed was his. Kelly was not registered to the room and one piece of luggage contained women’s clothing and jewelry that had been stolen from a guest of the casino.
