Thanks to the passage of WC-1, Damonte Ranch High School has broken ground on the first construction project for the Washoe County School district.

Prosecutors are still wary about a bill that would allow inmates to pay for DNA testing in hopes of being cleared. Their concerned AB 268 takes away too much discretion from the court system.

Damonte Ranch High School is moving full speed ahead with a 22 room expansion, with construction getting started this week. Visitors to the ground breaking were welcomed by tunes from the School's Jazz band.

A bill that would allowed convicts to pay for DNA testing, to try to prove their innocence was debated at the Assembly Judiciary Committee. The bill was opposed by prosecutors and representatives of crime labs.

Senator Joyce Woodhouse wants the legislature to support the Marketplace Fairness Act, which would tax sales by out of state retailers online.

Continuing down a path that seeks to force this unsafe and unwanted project on Nevada is a waste of time and money, and only gets the country farther away from solving its nuclear waste problem. The Trump administration has proposed spending 120 million to restart the project.

Nevada lawmakers are advancing a proposal aimed at protecting the residency of neglected children living in the United States illegally. Assembly Bill 142 would make clear that state district courts can declare certain immigrant juveniles are entitled to seek special status under federal law. That's already allowed but supporters say it's underutilized. Proponents say directing family courts to recognize abused and abandoned children immigrants could keep them from being deported to worse situations.
