NHP troopers are currently on the scene of a fatal crash involving two vehicles on I-80 east of Fernley. Currently all Eastbound and Westbound lanes are closed starting at mile marker 75.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is on scene of a fatal accident in Fernley. According to NHP, the crash was reported around 2:53 a.m. this morning. NHP says possibly three cars were involved in the crash. At this time they say one person is confirmed dead. I-80 Westbound has reopened, while the eastbound lanes have been reduced to one lane between Fernley and the U.S. 95 Junction.

The State of Nevada, Washoe County and the North Valleys Incident Command Team have begun a short-term, temporary plan to prevent the spread of flood waters in Lemmon Valley. They plan to construct temporary barriers in areas around Swan Lake in Lemmon Valley. The barriers will stretch approximately five miles long and will be four-feet high. In the middle of the barriers will be more than 12,000 yards of sand. Water would be pumped back into Swan Lake, over the wall. Crews are closing Lemmon Drive between Oregon Blvd. and Waterash Street until further notice. Construction is expected to take a week.
