The Washoe County Commission continues to work on the emergency response, as residents of Lemmon Valley deal with flood waters, and see few real solutions.

Residents of Lemmon Valley who've been threatened by floodwaters have been asking for action, now they're getting it. The State, Washoe County and the North Valleys Incident Command Team have begun a short-term, temporary plan to prevent the spread of flood waters. They plan to construct temporary barriers in areas around Swan Lake. The barriers will stretch about five miles long and will be four-feet high. Water would be pumped into the Lake, over the wall. In the middle of the barriers will be more than 12,000 yards of sand. Crews are closing Lemmon Drive between Oregon Blvd. and Waterash Street until further notice. Construction is expected to take about a week.

A man brought what is believed to be a hand grenade into the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Musser Street this afternoon, forcing the sheriff's office to close, and call in the bomb squad from Douglas County.
