Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and Sparks Police Department continue investigating an officer involved shooting last night on Kietzke Lane in Reno. Reno Police officers were attempting a traffic stop on Kietzke Lane just north of Peckham Lane.

The Reno Police officer shot last night during a traffic stop is out of surgery and recovering at a local hospital. One suspect who reportedly took part in a shootout was also taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, but has died from his injuries. Police are now searching for Eric "Smokey" Bernal who was also involved in the shootouot but managed to run off. They say he's an active gang member involved in criminal activity. Several agencies aided in the response to this officer involved shooting including the FBI, DEA, Reno and Sparks Police along with Washoe County and tactical units from all agencies. Police searched multiple addresses associated with Bernal, but have yet to find him.

Home Depot plans to hire big in northern Nevada. They've announced plans to fill 300 positions in Reno, Sparks, and Carson City locations. Nationally the company plans to hire 80 thousand full and part time workers. Home Depot's spokesman Matt Harrigan tells the RGJ, Spring is really their Christmas.

He murdered another teenager to steal a Gucci belt, now 16 year old Christian Scott faces at least 20 years in prison. Scott was convicted of first degree murder. Prosecutors say he has a criminal record starting at the age of 9. He'll serve his time in a juvenile facility until he's 18, then it's off to prison.

Washoe County, and State officials joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on a tour of Lemmon Valley Friday, to evaluate possible solutions for the persistent flooding that is impacting residents. Dwayne Smith, Director of Engineering for Washoe County Community Services says unfortunately there is no immediate, short-term solution to keep water from impacting the residents located within the flood plain. However, there are possible solutions they've been exploring and are continuing to evaluate. The Corps of Engineers, which specializes in devising flood drainage reduction infrastructure and reducing risks from disasters, is in the process of analyzing and collecting more information.

Reno Police are actively looking for a suspect in the shooting of a police officer tonight a little before ten. Police say the shooting happened as the Regional Gang Unit was making a traffic stop in the area of Kietzke Lane and Peckham. Injuries to the officer apparently are not considered life-threatening. Police say another person with the suspect was shot during the stop. The condition of that man has not yet been made available. The shooting suspect in the incident ran away from the scene, possibly to the area of the Atlantis hotel casino. Police say the suspect is armed and dangerous and they're telling people to avoid the area.
