16 year old Christian Scott of Reno has been convicted of 1st Degree Murder for the killing of a 16 year old Reno boy. It's the crime that occurred at Pat Baker Park in late December 2015.

Home Depot plans hiring as many as 300 people at its stores in Reno, Sparks, and Carson City. Nationally the company plans to hire 80 thousand full and part time workers. Home Depot's spokesman Matt Harrigan tells the RGJ, Spring is really their Christmas.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation served a search warrant at a Reno home Wednesday morning and it turned into a "barricaded situation." The FBI called out the Reno special weapons and tactics team and entered the home after failed negotiations and found a body inside. Several nearby homes were evacuated during the operation in the 3300 block of Thornhill Drive. The investigation continues. Few details have been released.

DA Chris Hicks based this decision on the seriousness of the crime, and in the interests of justice for the victim and public safety. Scott was was 15 years old at the time he shot and killed another teenager during a pre-planned robbery Scott faces other charges as well.

The target date for the re-opening of State Route 446 at Pyramid Lake is now this Saturday. 446 was badly damaged by January floods. N-DOT says the highway will be open to all drivers, some portions will be limited to a single lane, with traffic flaggers. More than ten sections of the roadway were washed away, leaving 50 foot deep ravines behind. The emergency repairs cost about 4 million dollars
