The Washoe County Board of Trustees were presented with the findings from an audit of the district's safety and emergency preparedness. The audit, conducted by the School Safety Advocacy Council outlined the district's strengths and weaknesses. One recommendation from the study is to place school police officers on middle school campuses. Currently, school officers are only assigned to high schools. An 18 month audit of the Washoe County School District conducted by the School Safety Advocacy Council was released yesterday. It outlined the district's strengths and weaknesses when it comes to safety and emergency preparedness. Some of the recommendations from the study include adding school police officers to middle schools, adding key card locks to buildings, and using social media to get information to parents in case of emergency. WCSD Board President Angie Taylor told KOLO-8 now that they have the report, the conversation can begin.
