State officials toured Reno, Sparks and Washoe County to assess damage from recent storms and flooding to determine if the region is eligible for federal assistance. Crews from the City of Reno, City of Sparks, Washoe County and the State have worked throughout the week to determine the cost of damages incurred and are still asking the public to report damages. Residents should call 2-1-1 or toll-free at 1-866-535-5654 for weekend damage assessments, or go online at "Nevada211-dot-org." All the information collected from regional agencies will be reported to the Nevada Division of Emergency Management. From there, information will be submitted to Federal Emergency Management Agency Region IX. If assessments meet FEMA thresholds, agencies and the public may be eligible for federal assistance.

A 43 year old Tahoe City woman was killed on Highway 89 north of Squaw Valley when a tree fell on two vehicles, a Cadillac and a Subaru. CHP says both vehicles were traveling at about five miles per hour due to heavy traffic and snow, about 6 p.m Thursday. The Escalade's driver, was not hurt. Placer County Deputies have identified the Subaru driver as Emmanuelle Delavoye. The driver of a Tesla stopped to help the people in the vehicle that were struck by the tree, and a second tree fell on the Tesla. That driver wasn't injured.

NV Energy formally requested that the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) reconsider its December decision, in the Sierra Pacific Power Company general rate case. The order establishes customer rates for a three-year period. In October N-V Energy worked an agreement to lower electricity rates for residential and small general service customers by about $2.92 million annually, or a total of $8.77 million over the three-year period. The agreement would share the savings with northern Nevada electric customers. Instead the PUC order forces NV Energy to reallocate the funds to future new solar net metering customers. The company argues the order takes the savings that were intended for a larger customer base and directs them to this small subset of future solar net metering customers, about 1,250.

The Raiders have apparently been knocking heads with casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, and could decide to try to move to Las Vegas, without his investment. Since the legislature approved a room tax hike to fund the stadium, the Raiders and Adelson have been unable to make a deal. The owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers says the Raiders may come without Adelsons backing. Art Rooney the Second also made it clear Adelson can't be involved in Raiders ownership, because his casinos have sports betting.
