Sparks dealt with some flash flooding following Tuesday night's downpour, and locals and business owners still need to be on high alert. East Glendale, Meredith Way and Franklin Way were all closed due to standing water, and reopened later in the day. Adam Mayberry with the Sparks Emergency Management team has some advice for residents.

Crews and first responders around the region are still working around the clock to clear snow, place sandbags in key locations and remove drain blockages to prevent flooding. The National Weather Service is recommending that residents keep flood reduction resources, including sandbags, nearby for the next 1 to 2 weeks. Any additional rainfall could potentially cause significant flooding.

It was closed by NDOT at Silver City in Lyon County, due to serious erosion and guard rail damage and heavy snow. Gold Hill residences businesses are accessible southbound from Virginia City. NDOT repair efforts are underway. Six Mile Canyon Road remains closed for two to three weeks.

A Sun Valley woman who worried more about her car than the two 19 year olds she severely injured in a crash, she caused, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. 24-year-old Nicole Gabrielle Cote was found guilty of two counts of DUI Causing Substantial Bodily Harm and two counts of Reckless Driving Causing Substantial Bodily Harm.
