While there may be some challenges finding enough construction workers, Washoe County School Trustees have approved an ambitious construction plan that calls for spending 55 million dollars on major projects through 2018, and 21 million on the Capital Renew program during the summer of 2018. Trustee John Mayer was enthusiastic about the projects.

The plan includes purchase of land for new middle schools in Sun Valley and Spanish Springs, and new elementary and high schools across the district.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies need your help finding a man they say is armed and dangerous, and may be in the Gardnerville or Yerington areas after a kidnapping and armed robbery last week. Police say 28-year-old Francisco “Frankie” Perez and a second suspect, 35-year-old Stacy Conti-Salway beat a man inside in a home on Gilman Avenue, held the victim at gunpoint, and then forced him to withdraw cash from his bank account. Undersheriff Paul Howell says they believe he's probably with family or friends.

A former South Lake Tahoe fire captain has entered a guilty plea to child porn charges. Mark Wygant admitted transporting child pornography as part of a plea deal that should keep him from going to prison for up to 20 years. FBI agents and South Lake Tahoe police arrested him after receiving an internal tip from a city employee accusing him of surreptitiously filming a 12- or 13-year-old girl.

Sparks Police are looking for three suspects responsible for a robbery at Scheels Sporting Goods Store. Around 5pm yesterday, three young males picked items throughout the store before walking past the cashiers without paying. When Security officers tried to stop the suspects outside the store, one of them pulled out a handgun and threatened the employees before running north to a light-colored SUV. The Churchill County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding a runaway not seen by her family since November 27th. 17-year-old Sable Schilder is about 5ft-1 and 125 pounds. She has shoulder-length hair, which she often dyes, and it was dark brown when she disappeared. She has her nose and lips pierced, ears gauged, and has two tattoos, a heart and arrow on her left wrist and triangle on her left thigh.

Double Diamond and Brown elementary schools are so overcrowded, they're moving to multi-year year-round schedules next year. That's why building a new school in the area is a priority for the Washoe County School District.
