The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District have put out a structure fire on Axe Handle Canyon Road off Pyramid Highway this morning. They say an outbuilding was completely destroyed but the main house only had some exterior damage. No people were injured but the fire department says several pet falcons died in the fire. the cause of the fire is unknown.

Former Nevada Assemblyman John Carpenter has passed away. Her was born in 1930 in Fallon, Nevada. He served in the Nevada Assembly from 1987-2005 for Nevada District 33 in Elko County. He leaves behind a wife and seven children.

The Nevada State Democratic Party reports that Roberta Lange will not run for a fourth term as Chair next year. She has been the Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party since 2011, making her the longest-serving chair in recent history. Lange is also the first Nevadan to serve on the Democratic National Committee's Executive committee and the first Nevadan to serve on the Association of State Democratic Chairs Executive Committee.

A little after five o'clock Friday evening Reno Police located a suspect they believe robbed the Kmart at 20-25 Oddie Blvd in Sparks last Wednesday. The man was located in the 1300 block of East 4th Street in Reno. Police say he's 47-year-old Jeff TATUM, of Reno. They say Tatum left the K-mart with several stolen items, and pepper sprayed security guards who tried to stop him. TATUM has been booked for robbery and the majority of the stolen items have been recovered
