he Reno fire Department was able to quickly extinguish a fire that broke out along westbound Interstate 80 on Saturday.

According to the Truckee meadows Fire protection district crews are working a structure fire on Axe Handle Canyon Rd, off of Pyramid Highway.

The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District has put out a structure fire on Axe Handle Canyon Road off Pyramid Highway this morning. They say an outbuilding was completely destroyed but the main house only had some exterior damage. No people were injured but the fire department says several pet falcons died in the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The Nevada State Democratic Party reports that Roberta Lange will not run for a fourth term as Chair next year. She has been the Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party since 2011, making her the longest-serving chair in recent history. Lange is also the first Nevadan to serve on the Democratic National Committee's Executive committee and the first Nevadan to serve on the Association of State Democratic Chairs Executive Committee.

A plane with a heart patient on board headed to Utah for treatment crashed on a busy Elko Highway early Friday evening. The Piper PA 31 crashed under unknown circumstances in the Barrick Gold parking lot near the Gold Dust West Casino next to the Mountain City Highway. The patient, along with three crew members were killed in the crash, including 29-year-old Tiffany Urresti of Elko, who started working for American Medflight two months ago. She was engaged to be married in May.
