The Modoc County California Sheriff's Office has confirmed that one of it's deputies was fatally shot this (Wednesday) morning at around 10:30. The deputy was responding to a civil disturbance call about ten miles south of Alturas. A short time later multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the call of an officer involved shooting at the location. Law enforcement officials say the scene has been secured and a suspect is in custody.

The man accused of shooting a 7-Eleven store owner during a robbery in Reno last March has been convicted. 52-year-old Kevin Scott Clausen of Reno was found guilty on one count of Robbery With the Use of a Deadly Weapon, one count of Attempted Murder and other charges. Clausen also pleaded no-contest to a related count of Ex-felon in Possession of a Firearm. Two co-defendants who participated in the crime in varying degrees had already pleaded guilty to related charges and have been sent to prison. They are 46-year-old David William Coyne and 55-year-old Leslie Ann Ramos of Reno. The owner of the store, Nancy Morelli, suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of her head, resulting in permanent disfigurement and lasting physical side effects.

A Dayton child molester will serve at least 25 years in prison before he's eligible for parole. Robert Burton Farr pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child under the age of 16. Prosecutors say the victim was happy to take the guilty pleas, to avoid having to testify at trial.

An NHP Trooper made a traffic stop on a car traveling Eastbound on I-80 near Winnemucca, for speeding. While contacting the driver, 32 year old Leila Ibarra, from Oklahoma, the Trooper suspected criminal activity. Further investigation lead to the discovery of 21 lbs of Marijuana and 2 lbs of Methamphetamine, inside the vehicle. There was a young child in the vehicle. Ibarra was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Detention Center.
