Actress Jennifer Garner will be campaigning for Hillary Clinton tomorrow (Monday) in Reno by urging people to register to vote. The Hillary for Nevada Student Voter Registration and Canvass Kick-Off with Jennifer Garner is at 2 p.m. on the front steps of the Joe Crowley Student Union on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. At 3 p.m. Garner will head to the Washoe County Democratic Party Office located at 1465 Terminal Way. The public is invited to attend both events.

Julia Ratti has resigned her Ward One seat on The Sparks City Council effective today. Ratti was appointed by the Washoe County Commission to the State Senate, for the 30th Special Session of the Nevada Legislature. The session, which begins tomorrow, was called to discuss financing for a $1.9 billion football stadium and $1.4 billion convention center expansion in Las Vegas.

The Sparks Police Department is looking for a driver who injured a 10-year-old boy on Saturday. Police responded to the accident around 5:45 in the afternoon. A short investigation indicates a vehicle struck a child and the driver took off. The boy was taken to Renown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Sparks PD says the child was in a marked crosswalk on a push scooter, next to another child, when he was hit. The suspect's vehicle is described as a white early to mid 2000's model Chevrolet passenger car, believed to be 4-door, with Non-tinted windows and a blue Nevada license plate with white lettering.

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is getting a $50,000 grant from the Morgan Stanley Foundation, to fund its School Pantry program, a child hunger initiative that helps to make sure low-income families have a readily accessible source of food to prepare at home.

The grant is part of the Morgan Stanley Foundation’s recently announced $8 million, four-year pledge to support Feeding America, a nationwide network of 200 food banks, and its children’s hunger and produce programs.
