One home and three outbuildings were destroyed in a fire yesterday afternoon in Douglas County. The Frontage Fire started around 1 o'clock and was burning south of Gardnerville along U-S 395. A voluntary evacuation for the Ruhenstroth area has been lifted and 395 has been fully reopened after being closed during the firefight. Firefighters stopped the fire's progress at about 75 acres. Joining in the effort were land and air crews from Carson City, Bureau of Land Management, Tahoe Douglas, Antelope Valley, Reno, Truckee Meadows, Storey, Lake Valley, Mono, Alpine, Incline, Nevada Division of Forestry and Smith Valley Fire. The cause remains under investigation.

Two homes and three outbuildings are burning due to a 75 acre wildland fire in Douglas County south of Gardnerville. The fire started about 1:10 p.m. and is burning on both sides of the Carson River in the Indian Trail Road area. Evacuations are recommended for people south of Gardnerville. U.S. 395 is closed from Holbrook Junction to Riverview Drive.

A 22-year-old man was shot several times early this morning on Bunker Hill Lane northwest of McCarran Boulevard and Pyramid Way. It happened about 2:15 a.m. and is related to a large party in the area. The victims wounds are non life threatening. Police have not identified the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900.
