Authorities are not yet releasing the names of the two people killed in an Interstate 80 crash in west Reno on Friday night. The alleged driver of the Ford pickup that crashed into the back end of the disabled car near the McCarran Boulevard interchange remained jailed as of this morning. 27 year old Justin Kent Freund was booked on suspicion of two counts of vehicular manslaughter, two counts of felony driving under the influence and a felony count of attempting to leave the scene of an accident. 27 year old Matthew Sredy was allegedly a passenger in Freund’s vehicle who left the crash scene. He has been released from jail.The two people in the Pontiac were taken to Renown, where they were pronounced dead.

Reno police and Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to a crash on Red Rock Road under U.S. 395 this afternoon. Multiple motorists in California and then Nevada called in to report a reckless driver. Before officers could locate the white truck, they said it went off the southbound side of the highway and ended up on its side on the road below. The driver was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.

Sierra Memorial Gardens released a statement today announcing that the plan to disinter bodies at Hillside Cemetery as part of a restoration has been suspended. The plans to dig up and move more than 800 bodies buried in Reno's oldest cemetery had some long-time Nevada families speaking out. This is being called a restoration project, but critical family members said they believe this is just a very disrespectful move aimed at either developing or selling key real estate next to UNR near downtown. The city of Reno said it "has no authority over the disinterment process" at Hillside Cemetery.

Every year there's several reports of injuries in our area because of motorcycle accidents during the event, and a number of them are caused by drivers who aren't paying attention.
