parks Police are investigating a robbery at Rail City Casino. A man approached a cashier cage in the casino and demanded money. It happened about five am. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount. He's described as a white man with brown hair and a scruffy beard, wearing a black sweatshirt and black shorts.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office continues receiving numerous reports about a phone scam in which the scammers pose as Washoe County Sheriff’s Office personnel to fraudulently get money from people. The scammers claim there is an outstanding warrant and that a fine must be paid to avoid arrest. The reason for the warrant is represented as being anything from a traffic violation to failure to pay full income tax requirements to the Internal Revenue Service. The scammers then tell potential victims their options are to surrender themselves to the Sheriff’s Office for arrest, or pay a “reduced” payment of the fine to take care of the warrant.

50 year old James Elliker of Sparks was the passenger killed when a small airplane crashed in a Sparks RV Park. 73 year old pilot John Brown also died in the crash. Ian Gregor with the FAA says the plane was on descent toward the nearby Reno-Tahoe International Airport, but he did not say where the plane was coming from.

A shooting incident in Lovelock has ended with a woman seriously hurt and a man dead. The man apparently shot his wife in the head and turned the gun on himself. He is dead, his wife suffered life threatening injuries in the incident Wednesday.
