The Reno Sparks Convention Visitor Authority is excited to announce the return of Safari Club International's Convention Safari Club to Reno in 2019. The convention is coming back after a hiatus because Reno Tahoe International airport now has enough flights to bring everyone here.

The Reno Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority has announced that the Safari Club International Convention will be returning to the Truckee Meadows in 2019 through at least 2021. The convention stopped coming to our area back in 2013, because there weren't enough flights in and out of Reno Tahoe International for the 20,000 attendees, but that's all changed thanks to several new flights added at the airport in the last year. The Shooting Rage Fire, burning 6 miles south of the USA Parkway exit off Interstate 80 has burned an estimated 800 acres. Officials say the terrain is making it very difficult to reach the blaze, but at this time it is not threatening any structures. The fire is burning in light, flashy fuels and firefighters are calling in more resources this morning. There is no estimate for containment at this time.
