  • 7/10/16 9 PM - Top of the Hour Newscast
    The Placer County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide and subsequent officer-involved shooting that started in Auburn early this morning. Around 12:45 am, residents on Garnet Way in Auburn reported seeing the suspect, 34 year old Daniel Espinoza, struggling with his girlfriend in their car. A short time later, neighbors heard a gunshot from inside the apartment. The victim, Espinoza's girlfriend, was shot and killed. Espinoza fled to a house in Newcastle. Placer County sheriff's deputies searched the Newcastle Cemetery area and were allegedly ambushed by Espinoza. They returned fire, missing Espinoza, who ran out of ammunition. Deputies arrested him without anyone getting injured. Espinoza has been booked at the Placer County Jail on charges of murder and the attempted murder of two deputies.

  • 7/10/16 8 PM - Top of the Hour Newscast
    Seven people were displaced by an early morning fire Saturday in Sparks, near the intersection of Rock and McCarran boulevards. The house fire on Plymouth Way was started by a candle according to Sparks Fire Marshal Bob King. No humans were injured but firefighters were able to resuscitate a cat, who was overcome by smoke during the fire. The American Red Cross is assisting the Family.

  • 7/10/16 7PM - Top of the Hour Newscast
    A two vehicle crash on Pyramid Hwy north of Spanish Springs yesterday ended in the death of a mother of two, riding in one of the vehicles. NHP says the crash happened around 11:15 in the morning north of Axe Handle Canyon Road. It involved an SUV, which overturned, and a sedan. NHP officials say a family was riding in the SUV and that the mother was killed in the crash while her two children and their father were taken to a hospital. The driver of the sedan did not appear to be seriously injured.

    The Nevada Department of Corrections reports that Steven R. Perry, a minimum security inmate, walked away from the Tonopah Conservation Camp shortly before 8 a.m. today. Perry is a 47-year-old white male, 5'7" tall with blue eyes, long grey hair, and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt with a blue button down shirt and white sneakers. He was serving 36-84 months of burglary.

    A 69-year-old driver had a medical episode today that led to a crash at South Virginia Street and Peckham Lane. The driver lost consciousness as he drove on Peckham Lane and a passenger was able to grab the steering wheel and drive but not stop the car. The driver who lost consciousness was taken to the hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries and his passenger and two people in the northbound vehicle suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

    A 45-year-old woman and an 11-year-old child who were camping at Lake Lahontan, were taken by Care Flight in critical condition to a Reno hospital Saturday afternoon, after a pickup truck struck them.

    The Plumas County Sheriff's Office has initiated an investigation of a death in Lake Almanor. 911 dispatchers received a call around 4:30p.m. on Saturday reporting a man had been shot at a cabin on Big Meadows Road. When they arrived the man was found dead. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. If you have any information on the crime you are asked to call the Plumas county sheriffs office.
